Amish semi traffic
It was a beautiful clear day yesterday and we had a lot of traffic on the road.

"Satisfaction For The Thirsty Soul"

“For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, and the hungry soul He has filled with what is good" (Psalm 107:9). "Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days" (Psalm 90:14).

Many older readers will recall a very popular song by the Rolling Stones, "I can't get no satisfaction". My Rock and Roll interests curbed shortly after I became a Christian in 1971 but due to the recurring air play of this song in the sixties and seventies some of the words and the tune quickly come to mind even to this day.

In many ways the title of the song summarizes the outlook of the world. Marketing strategy is intent on convincing us that we are not satisfied. If we buy the advertised product we will finally find satisfaction. Just consider that this really is the message of virtually all advertising. Even if you don’t have a need for the item the barrage of advertisements are designed to make you reassess your original thinking; to bring dissatisfaction with what you have now, or at the very least to raise your curiosity.

Satisfaction can be a result of a fulfilling marriage and happy family, a job promotion, educational attainment, or acquiring more of this and that. These things aren't necessarily bad but all lack the overall true source of satisfaction. Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones and every other seeker wanting satisfaction will find that true lasting satisfaction is found only in a dynamic, living relationship with Jesus Christ.

The daily verses are a real key to the life of satisfaction. The first is a testimony of the satisfied life.

In the second verse the Psalmist (in this case Moses) offers one of the richest prayers found in the Bible. He cries out to God to "satisfy us in the morning." He thus acknowledges that the source of the satisfied life is God; even more specifically God's "unfailing love."

It's so contrary to the message of the world that screams in our ears with the multitude of sources of satisfaction it offers. These are all temporary at best. The deep, abiding satisfaction the soul longs for can only be found in God. Later in the Psalms we read, "You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing" (Psalms 145:16).

Moses said "in the morning". The Hebrew here literally means "at the break of day". As we begin our day with the deep assurance of God's unfailing love we are filled and equipped, so that we can live the day in victory, sing for joy, and be glad throughout our entire day; in the ups and downs, the quiet and busy aspects of our day as well.

Today my brothers and sisters, may we experience this deep satisfaction that God has provided. The Psalmist's prayer is so powerful. God alone is the source of satisfaction. Regardless of our circumstances, let us truly be satisfied with God's unfailing love. Let us sing for joy and be glad all our days, beginning today!

Be encouraged today,

Stephen & Brooksyne Weber

Praying man Daily prayer: Jesus, as I draw near to You in reading Your Word and in lifting my voice to You this day there is a renewal in my spirit. I recognize that my joy and satisfaction will not be determined by the events of this day, but by the state of my heart. When human love is fleeting and disappointments arise help me to look beyond my present circumstance. As the Psalmist wrote, "Earth has nothing I desire besides You", I also look to You for ongoing fulfillment to meet my every longing. Thank you that Your joy does not last for a season, but for a lifetime on earth and an eternity in heaven. Amen.

Yesterday was our "long" corporate chaplain service day. We would like to share some photos and reflections on this aspect of our ministry. During the course of the day we visit with several hundred people and many of them share the burdens they are dealing with. We see people from many nations from all over the world and seek to spread some light and salt. (See Matthew 5:13). By the time we finish with our last call in the afternoon we are physically and emotionally weary.

Mirror at JK
We get up very early and are at our first company before many of the "team members" leave for installation and service work for heating, air conditioning and solar systems. This mirror is placed near the door where the men leave to go out for their service work!  It's a good reminder for all of us who serve Christ as well. (See Colossians 3:12-13.)  Brooksyne's secret edit:  Look at the stranger in this mirror - does he look like the sort of fella you would want around your house?

Note to Dad
A little note can go a long way.
We look for photos, notes, art projects and other evidence of family and personal life that often prompts a meaningful conversation. Scott has had this note near his work space for some twenty years. His daughter, who was six years old at the time, sent it to work with him one day.

Bob's birthday poster
It's good to have some humor at work and Joe, the graphics whiz at a company that makes poultry houses, had some fun on a salesman's birthday by making this large poster.
(Note: This was done by photoshop, the salesman does not really have the body of a turkey.)

Apple sauce
I joined several of the men around the lunch table and conversed with Elvin who is nearly seventy years old.  He has worked in the tool shop for the same company for nearly fifty years. He eats home-made apple sauce for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day! Elvin is a member of an old order group and did not want his facial photo on the internet but Brian (in the background) didn't care. Elvin and his wife can 250 half gallon jars of apple sauce annually. We had dinner with them several months ago and here's a photo of part of their pantry.

Amish semi traffic
Here's another photo of the Amish buggy with wagon in traffic we encountered yesterday between Intercourse and Bird In Hand Pennsylvania.
(We have interesting town names here in our area!)

Today's Suggested Music and Supplemental Resources

Satisfied"  Video  Red Mountain Church  This is a slight adaptation of the words from this classic hymn along with a new musical arrangement done very nicely.  It will bless you!  For those unfamiliar with this hymn, as you read the words, you'll see that much of the text is based on The Prodigal Son.

All my life I had a longing
For a drink from some clear spring,
That I hoped would quench the burning
Of the thirst I felt within.

 Hallelujah! I have found Him

Whom my soul so long has craved!
Jesus satisfies my longings,
Through His blood I now am saved.

Feeding on the husks around me,
Till my strength was almost gone,
Longed my soul for something better,
Only still to hunger on.

Poor I was, and sought for riches,
Something that would satisfy,
But the dust I gathered round me
Only mocked my soul’s sad cry.

Well of water, ever springing,
Bread of life so rich and free,
Untold wealth that never faileth,
My Redeemer is to me.
